- Area
- A = b × h
- Perimeter
- P = 2(b + s)
- b base
- h perpendicular height
- s slanted side
Parallelogram formulas explained
A parallelogram has two pairs of parallel sides. Its area is base times perpendicular height, not base times slanted side. Below are all the parallelogram formulas with what each letter means, a worked example and a free calculator.
- Area:
A = b × h - Perimeter:
P = 2(b + s)

Worked example: area of a parallelogram
Given Base b = 10 cm, Height h = 5 cm, Side s = 6 cm, substitute the values into each parallelogram formula:
- A = 10 × 5 = 50 cm²
- P = 2(10 + 6) = 32 cm
